Publicity!

Recently Nina has had the pleasure of being contacted by the team over at KOJewel.com to have an article written on her and her sculptures.

Here is what they had to say!
You can also visit the article here

"The larger than life characters Nina Winters molds and shapes capture power, beauty and grace. Superheroes, angels, The Child King of the Known and Unknown Universes or eternal dreamers tell us stories of bravery, resilience and love. The Le Marseillaise inspired Liberte, with her bright, sanguine patina and intricate wings; the sweet, embracing couple that rests atop a heart shaped stele engraved with A Love Poem, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning or the eternal dreamer that still sees hope in this star while the world is cracking under him in So, What Now?, all her figures are highlighted by the subtle nuances she achieves and the restraint of her color palette. Ms. Winters studied at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture at Cornell University, the School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design. While she began her career in the field of paint and color, her travels and nature inspired her create monumental sculptures. Her awards winning works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. Her most recent commissions included a 7′ x 9′ “Galactic Samurai” for the Senior Vice President of Pepsico and a 16 1/2′, stainless steel “Eternity” for the city of Kirov, Russia."

RUSSIAN TV INTERVIEW

Here is an interview done by City Release Kirov News during my recent trip to Russia. While there, I worked with engineers at FabLab Studios to design a monumental sculpture for the city of Kirov.

The sixteen foot sculpture, "Eternity", that I designed is currently being fabricated and will be installed early next year.

Russia Update

I am currently in Kirov, working on a project to create monumental sonic sculptures for the city. I got to watch myself on television last night. People are actually recognizing me in the street from a recent local newspaper article.

Today I did a radio interview and made about 50 videos of people for a Matroyeshka doll sculpture I am creating. We are now planning a Friday night lecture I am giving and then I meet with an engineering club!

I should add that, during the TV interview, I was interviewing other people (it was very interesting) and asking them what they hope for the future of their city, the world and for their children. Almost all of them said that they want peace and that Americans and Russians should love each other.

It has been a wonderful trip so far!

Enlarged Maquettes

Most of my sculptures are first created in maquette size. The bronzes can then be commissioned in any size.

But I am now working on enlarging some of my maquette size sculptures to 2-4 feet in bronze coated polyurea. This technique still holds all the beauty of bronze, as it has a thin layer of bronze coating, but is much lighter weight and less costly.

We will be bringing these enlarged sculptures with us to our Art Shows in the Fall, and give people the option of either bronze coated polyurea, or the traditional lost wax cast bronze.

These pieces are perfect for someone who wants the impact of a monumental sculpture, without the price of bronze casting.

Here are a few of the pieces that we will be bringing on the road with us:

NEWS STORIES ON "THE GALACTIC SAMURAI - CONFRONTATION OF EVIL"

I wanted to share some pictures of recent news articles on my monumental sculpture commission for one of the Senior Vice Presidents of PepsiCo.

Excerpt from Flathead Beacon: "The stature - called "Galactic Samurai - Confrontation of Evil" - is Winters' "good message" to a world that she believes is a little shaky these days.
'My interpretation of what I have done is what one person can do to change their section of the world, their family, their community, their nation," Winters said. "I think people can reach a lot further than they've been taught they can reach.'"

Excerpt from New Hampshire Union Leader: "...Winters said she prefers to focus on what the human condition could be if people could simply start working toward a goal of making the world a better place.
It's in this light that Winters is designing her legacy - the establishment of Peace Parks featuring her sculpture and work made by others.
'The end foal of my life is to have Peace Parks that inspire children in every country in the world,' she said."

To support my Peace Park cause, go to www.ninawinters.com and purchase a piece from my new jewelry line.

Sculpture of the Week 9/20/11

I wanted to focus this week on my piece, Above It All. It was first created out of clay, then cast in bronze at the foundry. A bronze sphere is made to go under it, then a custom stainless steel base. The inspiration behind this piece came from actor Rene Auberjonois (who played Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). Rene owned land with me in the woods of New Hampshire. He used to draw happy little figures that, later on, inspired me to draw a girl dancing on top of a blue sphere. Here she is in bronze form, above the earth, the universe, her own universe.

Galactic Samurai Enlargement

I wanted to share a few pictures of the clay enlargement of my monumental commission, "The Galactic Samurai". The foundry is beautiful, and we have been working around the clock to ensure the piece will be done on time. I have met some amazing people here, and am very excited to work with them in the future on many other monumental projects.

DOING THE ENLARGEMENT FOR MY MONUMENTAL COMMISSION!

In Portland, Oregon, working with my crew to point-up (enlarge) The 6 ft x 8 ft Galactic Samurai sculpture. I am having the BEST time! Got blue foam up my nose, but I'm just pretending it's snow. The workshop is big and clean, and filled with artists and robots. It's all about high-tech, clean air and doing the job right.
