New Installation

NEW INSTALLATION!!

Nina recently had the pleasure of sending out "The Littlest Mermaid" to a collector in Hawaii!
The collector has installed Nina's sculpture by her pool and has just commissioned Nina for a second sculpture to put on the other side of her pool.

She has graciously taken a gorgeous photo of the sculpture in her new home to share with us :)

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK

This week I wanted to share the story behind my sculpture, "The Little Mermaid", because not only was the 5 ft. version of this piece selected for the Great Lakes Bay Region "Fall In Art and Sol" solar art exhibition, but I also just sold this piece at 22 in. to a collector in Hawaii for his pool area.

When my daughter was very young, we went to Copenhagen. While there, we visited Carl Jacobsen's famous sculpture of The Little Mermaid on the rocky shores of the city. I wanted to create my own, unique version of this classic piece. Cast in bronze and on a base of coral, "The Little Mermaid" has more attitude than most as she surveys the world with total calm.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK

I am currently creating "The Little Mermaid" at 18" for a collector in Maui, Hawaii. Years ago, I went to Copenhagen with my daughter. We visited the famous statue of The Little Mermaid on the rocky shores of the city. I wanted to create my own version of this beautiful sculpture. Here she is in bronze on a coral base. She is now available in bronze at 6" and 18" and in bronzed carbomate (high density urethane coated with a thin layer of bronze) at 3'. I just began a new mermaid that will be much darker in spirit.  In a few months we will be opening the new gallery in my home and you can all come and see all my work finally in a beautiful atmosphere with perfect lighting. We have a few surprises in store.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK 10/31/11

I wanted to share the back story behind my piece, "The Little Mermaid". She was made from clay, then cast in bronze at the foundry. She sits atop a limestone base. I went to Copenhagen with my daughter when she was very young. We visited the famous statue of The Little Mermaid on the rocky shores of the city. I wanted to create my own, strong version of this delightful sculpture. She has more attitude than most as she surveys the world with total calm.
