SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK

This week I'd like to share more information about my sculpture, "The Child King of the Known and Unknown Universes". Inspired by the idea that Innocence can rule with brilliance, this is a maquette (small scale) version of a monumental piece I envision at the entrance of one of my peace parks.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK

I wanted to share the inspiration behind my piece, "After Theatre". While I was in New York City visiting my mother, I saw a woman outside of a theatre after the show. She was waiting for her husband, or perhaps her lover. I saw velvet and satin, longing and lust. It is mesmerizing the details of a complete stranger you can pick up if you really look. It has always stuck with me. This is my version of a woman, after theatre.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK

I wanted to share the inspiration behind my sculpture, "Dancin' in the Rain". Cast in bronze and high-polished, she is happy being voluptuous with no inhibitions. She was originally created as a maquette (model) for a large garden fountain, the water splashing down onto her upturned palm. She can be commissioned in any size.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK 5/23/12

I wanted to share the inspiration behind my piece, "A Girl in a Golden Anklet". When my daughter, Hana-li, was very young, I ran into an acquaintance. The woman was wearing a silver necklace. Later, Hana-li asked me where the "girl in the silver necklace" was. I loved how my two year old daughter identified this woman by her necklace. I decided to make a sculpture based on this idea. This sculpture depicts a young woman, supremely at ease within herself, identified only by her golden anklet.

SCULPTURE OF THE WEEK 2/3/12

This week I wanted to tell you a bit about my piece "The Child King of The Known and Unknown Universes". Tiny, yet powerful, this is the maquette model of a sculpture I envision in monumental size for a Children's Peace Park. Innocence can rule with brilliance. I wanted to represent the power of children and the wisdom which we often take for granted.
